Las Vegas Raiders 2020 Predictions: Week Four

As of today, August 30th, 2020, there are 13 days until the Las Vegas Raiders take on the Carolina Panthers in week one. Here at BroSports, we’re going to release one Raiders game prediction a day until kickoff. We’re going to take a look at how we think the Raiders will match up with each opponent, what we think the score will be, and track those Raiders wins and losses throughout the season.

Today, we take a closer look at the Raiders hosting the other Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills.

Las Vegas Raiders 2020 Predictions: Week Four

The Bills at a Glance

Unlike the Raiders, the Buffalo Bills are projected to be playoff contenders this season. Tom Brady flew south for the winter, and both the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets are rebuilding. Josh Allen is a supposedly up-and-coming quarterback, they acquired star wide receiver Stefon Diggs in the off-season, and running back Devin Singletary had a promising rookie season.

But everyone knows,t he real strength of the team is the defense. Ed Oliver, Tremaine Edmunds, Tre’Davious White, and Micah Hyde highlight a defensive unit that gave up the second fewest points (259) and third fewest yards in 2019 (4,772).

Broken Mirror

In a lot of ways, I feel like the Buffalo Bills are the polar opposite of the Las Vegas Raiders. I think the Raiders are a decent-to-good team trapped in an elite division. Meanwhile, the Bills are a decent-to-good team lounging in a bad division. On paper, can you really say the Bills are better than the Raiders? Because I can’t.

The Raiders have a better backfield, better weapons, a better offensive line, and, yeah, I’ll say it, a better quarterback. I think the defense is good, but not so good that the Bills will beat genuinely good teams. I’m not even saying the Raiders are genuinely good, but…

The Prediction

As you might be able to tell, I’m not the world’s biggest Bills fan. I like the coach, I like the defense, I like the weapons, but I’m not a huge fan of Josh Allen. I wasn’t a fan coming out of college, and I haven’t seen the improvement that rabid Bills fans insist has occurred. This is literally him in the last game he played, throwing it deep… to a fullback… in double coverage.

I think the Raiders are actually perfectly poised to beat the Bills. Their strength is their defense, and I think the Raiders offense should be good enough to put points up, and I still don’t trust Josh Allen. I think the Raiders get a surprise win here and people are surprisingly optimistic about the team’s hot start. For what it’s worth, I would’ve given Buffalo the win if the game was in New York.
