For all that happens in the NFL, you just can’t keep up with everything. You shouldn’t be expected to have to wade through all the muck of the NFL season to figure out what’s really important. So, I’ve taken the liberty of doing that sifting work for you. This week was a wild one around the league, with big comebacks galore and some wild last-second finishes. These are my five most knee-jerkish snap reactions (get it, like how you snap a football? I’m hilarious) from week two of the 2022 NFL season.
NOTE: I write this column during Sunday Night Football every week. Thus, anything during Monday Night Football will not be covered.
Matt Ryan Is Awful
You could also frame this as “The Jacksonville Jaguars” might be good, but I don’t think that’s fair to exactly how badly Matt Ryan played in this one. Ryan was 16 for 30 on passing, for zero touchdowns and a back-breaking three interceptions throughout the game. And even that stat line doesn’t tell the story of how downright sorry Ryan looked throughout this contest. It was, and I don’t say this lightly, pathetic.
I was a large supporter of the Colts bringing Ryan in for the starting quarterback job after how truly dreadful Carson Wentz looked in blue and white last season. It’s early, but Ryan isn’t doing much better. I thought his game might translate as he got older and that there was a chance that he would age gracefully, but perhaps I was wrong. Ryan looked old out there in week two against a very young Jags team. He looked too old.
