NFL Snap Reactions (2022): Week Five

For all that happens in the NFL, you just can’t keep up with everything. You shouldn’t be expected to have to wade through all the muck of the NFL season to figure out what’s really important. So, I’ve taken the liberty of doing that sifting work for you. This week saw a young Jets squad really come into form, the Bills getting back on track, and a massive upset in London. These are my five most knee-jerkish snap reactions from week five of the 2022 NFL season. Let’s get rolling.

NOTE: I write this column during Sunday Night Football every week. Thus, anything during Monday Night Football will not be covered.

It’s Time For Desmond Ridder

Atlanta isn’t failing under Marcus Mariota by any means. At 2-3, they’re actually quite the surprise in my humble opinion. I had picked Atlanta to win maybe two or three games all year, and they’ve met that threshold through just five weeks. But with that being said, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Mariota experiment needs to meet its final destination. It’s time to bring in Desmond Ridder and see what he can do for this franchise, before it’s potentially too late.

Despite not being all that bad, the Falcons need to see what they have in the rookie before things get out of hand. If Atlanta starts losing, and looking at their schedule it certainly seems like they will, and they never see what they have in Ridder, they might miss out on a truly great defender or quarterback. Am I pushing an agenda here? Yes, perhaps. But as the old saying goes, quarterbacks are like tea bags. You don’t know what you’ve got until you put them in hot water.
